What is a Psilver Lining?
Psilver Lining is a play on words for the saying that "there's a silver lining to every cloud" and the words "Psilocybin and Psilocin", two psychoactive compounds which are a part of the non-isoprenoid indole alkaloid family, known psychedelics that are found in some species of mushroom, that have been used ceremonially, medicinally, ritually, therapeutically and recreationally by many civilizations for many conditions across the globe for millennia.
Current leading worldwide studies and clinical trials indicate that therapeutic usage of psilocybin/psilocin may well be the tip of a powerful spearhead, set to tackle mainstream medicine very shortly for such conditions as PTSD, chronic/treatment-resistant depression and anxiety, ADHD, phobias, addictions, prevention and relief of cluster headaches and migraines, low confidence/self-esteem, as well as other new benefits being found more and more frequently as studies are being performed more often!
These are exciting times, as science learns just how important this natural medicine is, in treating so many conditions that Western medicine has failed to deal with effectively, until recently looking at psilocybin/psilocin as a medicine and finding its immense healing properties, that have been well known to many cultures for countless generations.
Many countries and states worldwide are now reforming their laws on psilocybin/psilocin for studies to be able to take place immediately so that the human race can gain a better understanding of how this substance interacts with and affects us, and what benefits can be gained from its usage as a therapeutic tool and effective micro-dosing medication for all of the above-mentioned conditions, and hopefully many more still yet to be discovered.
It should be noted that while psilocybin can be a powerful tool to assist in the healing of many ailments, it is not a silver bullet for mental health, and it is not going to be suited to everyone. Be sure to seek medical advice before consuming psilocybin if you think you may have a predisposition for mental health issues (ie, past issues, or possible hereditary issues in your family) as some mental health issues can be exacerbated with the use of psychedelics.
More active compounds..
Psilocybin itself is not a psychoactive compound, but once it enters the human body's digestive system it is quickly dephosphorylated (converted) into Psilocin, the powerful psychoactive compound that crosses the blood-brain barrier giving the classic psychedelic experience described by people who take magic mushrooms. This is just one of an orchestra of active compounds found in mushrooms (species dependant), all working together to create a symphony of wondrous effects, both immediate and long term, as beneficial new circuitry is formed in the neural pathways in our brains.
These compounds include:
(but are not "limited to", as new compounds that synergise with currently known active compounds are being discovered all the time)
Baeocystin, Norbaeocystin, Norpsilocin, Aeruginascin, B-carbolines (Harmaline, Harmine, and Harmane).
Mushion Statement
Our organisation aims to reduce the harm caused by misidentification and misuse of psychoactive mushrooms, by way of delivering the most up-to-date and current knowledge available, concerning psychoactive mushroom species in New Zealand. We will endeavour to do our best to stay abreast of new findings in the mycological world, concerning active species in NZ, and deliver this information to our audience here at Psilver Linings, as soon as such findings arise to our attention.
Our secondary aim is to help gain awareness around the benefits of Psilocybin/Psilocin, and its medicinal/therapeutic uses, and keep our audience up to date on current studies that are taking place worldwide, along with their findings, to help break the stigma attached to these compounds. We do this so that the people in need of these treatments the most, might someday be able to gain access to these miraculous medicines provided to us by Mother Nature, in a safe and regulated manner.
